๐ŸŒฑ New Lead Outreach

๐Ÿ“šThe main goal of NEW LEAD outreach is to discuss the application process and the intent of the VA programs, whose end game is Meaningful Employment (ME). This initial phone contact should not take more than 5-10 min. Try to control the conversations to explain the process, so they know what to expect, and emphasize that the email you will send will have all of this in it as well for reference.

๐Ÿ“When you contact a veteran for the first time over the phone, use vetDocs to structure your conversation when you speak with them. Don't sound like a robot reading off of a script, be genuine and comfortable in your method of communication.

๐Ÿ“งThe less info you send to their email is generally better. Attempt to send the veteran one or the other but if it's necessary, then send them both.

Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ]

๐Ÿง  What is the VET TEC program?

  • The Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses (VET TEC) program is offered by the VA to assist Veterans in getting trained in technology jobs without consuming their GI Billยฎ benefits. This program is an alternative to the Post-9/11 GI Billยฎ, focusing on getting Veterans into flexible, in-demand, high-paying careers like, e.g., information security and software coding. As per the Department of Veterans Affairs website, Intellectual Point is listed as a VET TEC Training Provider.

๐Ÿฆ  What is the VRRAP program?

  • The Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP) offers education and training for high-demand jobs to Veterans who are unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The VRRAP program will end on December 11, 2022 or when the funding and participant limit are reached, whichever comes first.

๐Ÿ’ธ What is this going to cost me?

  • The VA will cover the total cost of your tuition; the only out-of-pocket expense is the certification exams, as VETTEC and VRRAP do not reimburse them. Although, if you have a Post 9/11 GI Bill, you can have some of the exam fees reimbursed via form 22-0810.

  • Also, in conjunction with your training, you will receive a monthly housing stipend (BAH) for your attendance in this program every consecutive month. The BAH is yours to use as you see fit, and you can also use it to help alleviate the costs if needed.

๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ’ป Are classes in person or online?

  • All the classes are online
  • Meeting software such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom will be used depending on the pathway you choose

๐Ÿ•— When does this take place?๏ธ - Next Session Starting Date: May 7th, 2022

  • On weekends (Both Saturday & Sunday), from 9AM - 6PM ET.
  • Won't interfere with your weekday schedule

โŒ› How long will the training take?

Depends on the pathway:

  • 3 Courses (DevOps) ~ 3 months
  • 3 Courses (Help Desk) ~ 3 months
  • 3 Courses (Cyber Warrior) ~ 3 months
  • 2 Courses (Network Administation) ~ 3 months
  • 2 Courses (Cloud Architect) ~ 2 months
  • 2 Courses (System Administration) ~ 2 months

โš–๏ธ What kind of hardware do I need?

  • The only thing you need is a working computer and stable Internet. We will provide all the material and labs digitally hosted in the cloud. You will be using meeting software such as Teams or Zoom. It is not recommended to use a phone/tablet, but it is possible use them to listen to classes when necessary; I recommend using a laptop or PC to participate during the training. For Laptop/PC specifications, I recommend having at least 8GB of memory as this course relies on your chrome browser.

๐Ÿ“ How do I go about applying for these programs?

  • Apply using the link sent to your email.
  • Generally takes 10 minutes to complete.
  • After submitting, a confirmation message will be sent out to your inbox.

โš–๏ธ What do the benefits include?

  • Monthly Housing Allowance for the duration of your pathway
  • Specific Amounts and the way you receive your allowance will be handled directly between you and the Department of Veteran Affairs
  • You will receive more information after you have enrolled in the pathway

๐Ÿšจ [Don't] Panic

  • Remain calm, and wait for them to finish their tangent.
  • Understand that their antisocial behaviour is only a reflection of their own personal issues.
  • Try to not cut them off; by giving them the space to speak, you're communicating to them that their situation deserves attention.
  • Give them 3 strikes for rude behavior.
    • On the second strike, give them a warning
    • "I apologize Sir/Ma'am, but if you continue to use this language, I will be forced to end this call.โ€

    • On the third strike, terminate the call.
  • When you have the space to speak, Politely end the conversation:
  • โ€œI apologize for any inconvenience caused, but Iโ€™m going to have to terminate the call due to the repeated bad language. Goodbye.โ€

Texting Templates

โš ๏ธTo be very clear, only in some cases will there be a veteran that refuses to speak over the phone; you can use this to help get them through the application process. This is to get the veteran on the phone after encouraging them to schedule time with you to go over-enrollment details. This is only meant to get the veteran warmed up for a final enrollment call to provide the rest of the information after they've received their COE or are highly interested.

๐Ÿฅ… The goal is to determine whether you should send them the VETTEC OR VRRAP info email or BOTH. If the veteran is unsure whether they have Gi Bill benefits remaining, you can mention to them that they can check their eligbility status here: https://www.va.gov/education/gi-bill/post-9-11/ch-33-benefit/.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Initial Outreach

Hey {Lead Name} This is {VSS Name} from Intellectual Point! Thanks for reaching out to us, I will be happy to assist you in your goals of getting Education Benefits through the VA, so you can learn more about our cyber security training programs. Are you still interested?

Yes, I am still interested.

Awesome! May I ask, Do you know if you have any GI Bill benefits with at least one day left?

๐ŸŸข IF VETERAN SAYS YES:๏ธ

Yes, I do have my GI Bill.

You may want to apply under VETTEC. I can send you an email that will direct you to the VA VETTEC website and apply with them there. If VA determines you are eligible they notify you within 30 days their decision.

"VET TEC is completely separate from the GI Bill and doesn't touch your GI Bill benefits at all. Can I confirm your email is {Lead Email}? I will send you all the info that is covered on the VA website as well."

๐Ÿ”ด IF VETERAN SAYS NO:๏ธ

No, I do not have my GI Bill.

That's ok You may want to apply under VRRAP. I will send you the email that will direct you to the VA VRRAP website and apply with them there. If they determine you are eligible they notify you within 30 days their decision. The email will also have our info and all the resource info for VRRAP

VRRAP doesn't require any GI Bill , the app will take you 10 mins to complete, and even if you don't think you meet all the eligibility requirements on the page for the app; I recommend you try to apply anyway and let the VA make a decision. Can i confirm your email is {Lead Email}?

๐ŸŸฃ IF VETERAN IS UNSURE:๏ธ

I am not sure if I have any remaining.

Ok I can send you info about both VA programs VET TEC and VRRAP look over them and see which one applies better to you, and after you apply through the VA for either of those, I can follow up with a phone call with you and discuss all other related info and questions you may have.

Can I confirm your email is {Lead Email}?

VETERAN CONFIRMS EMAIL

Ok, I sent that all over to you. if you have any questions please let me know, also when you submit the app let me know and I can schedule a phone call with you to cover some more info about what we offer, our class schedule and environment etc.. so you know everything moving forward!

Sounds good, thank you.
